"BOTH THE DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGICAL TOOLS AND THE USES TO WHICH HUMANITY HAS PUT THE HAVE CREATED MODERN CIVILIZATIONS IN emnetWHICH LONILNESS IN EVERINCREASING"

Little potatoes sitting glued to the couch in front of the idiot box is an old statement and an understatement for the GenX which knows that time is precious. computers, laptops have taken the replacement of idiot box and the daily soaps are replaced by the online gming squads and the chatting rooms. People decide over cellphones to catch up online rather than over a cup of hot beverage at some nice, cosy place.
the inventions of the modern world were created to make our life easy and systematic so that we get more time for ourselves. The time saved has been put to increase the workload and the inventions to cutoff from the world. we are leat botherd about whats happening next door and are more update about the latest product or the new software version released.

Friends catching up over a movie, children going out with parents or playing oudoor with friends, people partying with relatives over wekends will soon be like the history lessons encrypted in the walls of depleting society.
Cellphones have cu the need of meing and chatting. Texting is the latest buzzword for anykind of emergency. Emails were the boon for fast business but has taken over the friendly emotional essays and greeting cards along with the personal touch one had with others. Evrything is mechanzed these days, even the emotions. When peopl are sad they send a sad smiley to depict their emotions and get over with it and the person at the other end sends a consoling smiley.
We find people travelling in groups but talking to themselves, may be dealing with their problems or with a bluetooth mode handset. In an overcrowded public transport apart from the sound of the transport we hardly have any other thing to hear. they walk like zombies and if ever they even talk like zombies. mostly, they will be either on their ipods or their laptops wen sitting. Latest blackberries have reduced the laptops necessity as well.
Tech savvy people are no longer in need of socializing or precisely feel it to b the wastage of time since hey can be doing multiple tasks when sitting online. People prefer to be hooked upto Facebook or Orkut uploading their personal status. People fing solace in sharing their thoughts with the dunb manmade machines rather than with the indegineous minds who created them.
People, soon, will be talking binary with eachother to meet the basc needs. Playstations have replaced the sports grounds. Is it we, who prefer lonliness and feel safe without competition or the vice versa?

Is this what we call development and modernization when we are losing the contact with fellow beings. Public meetings and socializing events are looked down upon as wastage of time and money. People start hating people and love machines as they feel secure int he gizmo world. If this continues, we would soon be a part of the mechautomated world with trillions of little universes within our world.

GREAT ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE ALWAYS REQUIRE REJECTION OF AUTHORITY

GREAT ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE ALWAYS REQUIRE REJECTION OF AUTHORITY

During World War 2, most of the research work was dedicated, solely to the developmnt of deadlest weapons in the history of mankind. Be it USA, Germany, Russia or Japan.
Fields like medicine, automation, textile etc were all viewed as auxiliary industries to support warfare and not as the need for a better and improved life for the masses.
I opinionate that the rejection of any authority is must for the advancement in knowledge propaganda. Political authority and influence always plays the role of spoiling sport when the benefit of common genre is at stake.

The mad race in amassing the detterent nuclear weapons was due to he ongoing cold warb/w two great superpowers of the world which were trying to polarize the world into two battle camps. This was soon followed by many smaaler unstable countries and now we hav reached a stage where any small mistake could lead us to the dreaded World War bringing an end to our existence abruptly and miserably. countries of the mddle east have more arms and amuunitions shops than the schools and hospitals and food shops. children prefer to ply with automatuc rifles due to non availability of toys and books. Had there been no politicizing, the scenario would have been much much different. Had there been no authority to restrict the development procees and monouever the research fiels, countries of Africa wouldn't have ben the breeding ground of all kinds of endemic diseases known to us theoratically.

The monopolisation of the research activities and the ongoing development projects would have resulted in the grave danger of people in different parts of the world still afraid of now depleted diseases like polio, malaria, small pox and mnay other disabilities in the medicinal arena. Space exploration and defining the new standard of living with the stupendous globalization would have been still a painter's imagination on a canvas had we been subjected to indignant politicos and egotist mad men in race of power or the orthodox Churches and the religion guardians, we would still be living like natives but loaded with sufficient arms and ammunition and beliefs to destroy every creation existing on our beloved lively, life supporting planet.

today when we can eradicate many diseases and mke the futur bright as sunlight for the next generation by spending the amount sufficient enough to build a jet fighter, a killing machine, i don't think any kind of authority or regulatory body has the authority or the power or choice to be in any kind of dillema to choose the right or rather i must say the only option best suited for everyone of us.

DEV D

Itz high time that Indian cinema is finally experimenting with non-commercial films and taking up social isues with such boldness & sensuousness. The recently screened Dev D was one such movie highlighting the urban issues...
Movie actually showed the theme to “move on” in life, to face the troubles and live the life on your terms. It highlights the orthodox and obnoxious mindset of people towards scandals and girls. Are we reall so afraid of what the public will think and say or what the society will do if we don’t do as expected from us??? Are those unknown people (who don’t give a f*** to if we die or live) more important than our family members who need our support in distress times???Shouldn’t the children be spared after they realize their mistake? Is discarding the child the only option left with parents???
I oppose it in totality. I don’t mean to say that those who drink n drive and kill people should be given a second chance neither do i say that teens be allowed to experiment in scandals and obscenity in the name of freedom. But there are situatons where only support of family can really remould the distorted future of their kid. No matter what others say, no matter what they feel, itz our own blood who needs help and mere financial support or fulfilling basic needs is nt the solution. It is the bonding and mental support what children crave for, the love and attachment with own people can really make a difference...

is engg worth 4 years of life???

Hey frndz...as we all are doing our graduation, i just felt an urge to take into account your views regarding the importance of this degree and the time we spend on it.Do you believe that the curriculum we do is worth 4 long years with very little time for self development included?Do you think this course is worth studying as well as devoting so much time? Will it really make us good enggs and will be the stepping stone for the success in our life? Why then do we have to rush for post graduation and other courses as soon as we get the degree? Is this scenario in the society with loads of restrictions in college upto mark for the mature students like us?Shouldn’t we have more choice while selecting the subjects we want to study and the timetable for lectures with common consensus?
My personal view is that students should be given more space and freedom in the selection of the course they are studying in graduation and in place of random ranking system for selection of stream there should be rather an aptitude test for the allotment of streams in engg. We all are aware of the kind of technical knowledge we have then why waste time and money on it. Instead there should be many prallel courses and subjects at our disposal to shape our careers with our personna...internet facilities, labs, libraries, sports complexes, auditoriums etc shoul be open for the students 24x7...
Ofcourse we do require guidance and mentors but we should have a say in what we wil be doing too. Afterall itz we who will be alone facing the society after we get that stupid page declaring us eng and fit for jobs...
